Through a broad and exciting curriculum, we aim to enable learners to become confident and effective users of different technologies. This is to prepare them for an ever changing technological world and is in line with the new National Curriculum requirements. We strive to achieve this by giving children opportunities to experience a wide range of hardware and software, including iPads, laptops and digital cameras, which are age appropriate. These are used within computing lessons and across the wider curriculum.
We focus on three main strands of computing, which are ‘Computer Science’, ‘Information Technology’ and ‘Digital Literacy’. E safety is referred in to in each strand, in addition to being taught as a separate unit of work. Each strand is revisited and developed each year to ensure progression.
Children also enjoy home access to our School Learning Platform (FROG), which encourages collaboration and communication within our school community. We also provide access to Purple Mash, which enables children to use similar software to reinforce skills at home using a secure online space.
